The kitchen is the point.

Most cafes treat food as something to wave through. We treat it like a small restaurant. The menu changes every Monday and reads however the week's growers tell us it should.

PRODUCE

Sourced from within an hour.

We buy direct from three smallholders, a baker in the next village, and one wholesaler we have used since 2019. Anything else, we do without that week.

BREAD

Baked here, every morning.

One sourdough loaf, three pastries, one biscuit, made on site by 7am. No batch buy-ins, no warmed-up trays from a central kitchen.

COFFEE

Three roasters, on rotation.

We do not run a house roast. The bar rotates one seasonal espresso and two filters every six weeks. Tasting notes on the board, no pressure to read them.

Saturday brunch, 10.18am. The kitchen has not yet caught up.

03

How we brew.

The bar is built for serious filter as much as espresso. If you have ten minutes, ask about the V60. If you have two, the batch is ready and pulled three minutes ago.

A pour-over Chemex setup with a gooseneck kettle pouring water onto coffee grounds.
Slow bar Chemex, V60, AeroPress. Three minute wait, give or take.
A single espresso shot in a white cup on a blue saucer.
Espresso Pulled to a four-second pre-infusion. No syrups, no flavour shots.

Asked often.

Do you take reservations?

For tables of four or more, yes, by email or phone. Tables of one to three are walk-in only, the cafe is rarely full before 9am or after 11.30am on weekdays.

Is there laptop work allowed?

Mornings before 10am and weekday afternoons, yes. Saturday brunch service we ask laptops away so people who came to eat can sit down. There are six counter stools and four window seats with plugs.

Can I bring a dog?

Outside seating only. Water bowl by the door. The barista keeps biscuits, do not be offended if your dog gets one and you do not.

Do you do takeaway?

Yes, on every drink. Compostable cups by default, 30p off with your own. The kitchen does not box up sit-in plates, but the baked goods all travel.

Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan?

Every drink can be made on oat, soy, or almond at no upcharge. Two of the daily plates are vegan and one is gluten-free, marked on the board. The pastries are not gluten-free, sorry.

Where are the beans from?

Currently espresso is from Round Hill, filter rotation is between Square Mile and Workshop. Roast dates on the bar. We will pour you a small taster if you are buying a bag to take home.
